    Assessment

Something first needs to be done to accuratly assess property. There is artificial situations being created by raising and lower the assessment as it meets the communities need. Then I would agree to vote for this three year phase in. Write now in some cases 1/3 of the assessment is way to high. Purchase price is where the assessment should start. What happen to letting the market control prices.

    Bad Idea

What is going on in Lansing? Both sides of the aisle seem to think that they need more and more taxes while residents and businesses are leaving the state in huge numbers. All time high foreclosures and Lansing wants to accelarate the process by more taxes. I am already "blown away" by what I see going on. If the election were held today I am sure the results would be much different than 6 months ago,

    Clarity

Let me see if I have this right. We traded a 6% sales tax for a property tax cut. You now want to go back on your word and uncap our taxes but incrementally so maybe we won't notice. Is that about the way it is?

    Full Time?

Why does Michigan have a so called full time legislature? They constantly show how inept and unable they are to get anything meaningful done so they set around and think of ways to raise taxes to pay for the programs of the highest paying lobbyists. A part time legislature with fewer members would be a good start to cut costs.

This is not a new tax

Regardless of whether or not you thing Proposal A was a good idea, this amendment is not a new tax. It just takes 3 years to do something that takes only 1 year under current law. All this does it make property assessment more complicated, and thus more expensive. I don't see it having any effect on sales. People can't buy houses because they're not working, not because the taxes would be too high.
