    Early bird gets the bottle

I wonder why we don't go 24-6 and give out early bird liquor licenses for $2,000.00 a crack or at least make beer and wine 24-6 with a 2000.00 permit. This law sounds great bringing in some money without taxing the crap out of the working stiff.I think with legislation like this along with cuts and wise use of tax dollars, a hike in gas and other stuff is probably avoidable. GO legislators go be smart ,be fair just don't tax me out of my underwear.

    how about

24/7? every day, all day. liquor is TAXED. taxes raise revenue. it's no ones business who drinks when but the drinkers. don't legislate morality, legislate common good.

    Keeping MI Drunk

Way to go. Unemployment, Child Support, drugs, and now we have until 4:00am to get drunk. What do you think happened in the Great Depression? Come on, is money more important than humanity. I guess it is in Michigan. I say--move out of Michigan, lawmakers are getting like the Nazis, more revenue for the State and less for the taxpayers. Who are you kidding? This bill is nothing but--Lets get our money, and make all Michigan citizens DRUNK....

    every time somebody

orders a beer, the state collects taxes. the highest taxes on any commodity except for tobacco and gasoline. other states have 24 hour alcohol availability, and they have LESS problems with drunk driving than we do. why is this? they have BUSSES and CABS to give intoxicated drivers a choice NOT TO DRIVE. it offers an alternative to driving, which michigan doesn't do. if this alternative was offered, we would have many fewer D.U.I. cases (which would decrease income from fines and fees) but we WOULD have an increase in taxes raised from tourism. casinos can serve alcohol 24/7, why can't everyone else? is someone trying to push it's religious agenda?

    Jails aready full of drunks

HB 4573 is a profoundly bad idea, that will cost Michigan both in money and in lives. It will immediately make our roads less safe, and place an additional burden on State recources, such as the jails that are already filled beyond capacity with drunk drivers and others whose lives have been torn apart by alcohol. It's no coincedence that virtually all police organizations and most police officers oppose this measure; it is not safe. We should be cutting back on the hours available to sell alcohol not extending them.

the last time we cut the

hours to sell alcohol, it didn't work. perhaps if we take the OTHER half of the drunk driving equation away, (HINT: THE DRIVING) then we wouldn't need any more laws. how about a BUS SERVICE that operates 24/7 to take drinkers TO AND FROM the bars. how about MANDATING THAT EVERY MUNICIPALITY HAS A CAB SERVICE THAT OPERATES 24/7, these two relatively inexpensive options would cut your HIGHWAY DEATHS by 75 to 100 percent. they would cut your BROKEN LIVES by at least that amount. they would also RAISE MONEY for the services they provide, instead of COSTING MONEY when you punish a person who has no other option. when you allow drinking (no matter WHAT you feel about it) people come. when they come, they buy drinks. (and pay TAXES on those drinks). when they are provided an ALTERNATIVE TO DRIVING, they USE IT. when they live to enjoy themselves, they save up their dimes and PAY TO COME BACK. it's a vicious, distasteful cycle, i know it, but it beats the hell out of the current alternative.

    is it necessary?

This bill is totally crazy. There are enough drunk people on the streets as it is. The only people that would go out that late at night to get liquor are, people that have been partying already; therefore, more then likly they will have already been drinking prior to getting more. So as a result we get even more drunk related accidents. Yet if this bill was to pass, the money that would be gained would help with michigans deficit. So it all boils down to how low will we go for money?

    it REALLY all boils down

to whether or not it's the PROPER ROLE OF GOVERNMENT TO TELL PEOPLE WHETHER OR NOT THEY CAN DRINK. if you think it is, then vote FOR this legislation, and the government will be happy to 'NANNY' you to death. if you think it ISN'T, then vote AGAINST this legislation, and make up YOUR OWN MIND, AND TAKE YOUR OWN RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR DECISION.

    Nanny?

Wow Nanny. Thats pretty harsh considering the fact that thats what they have been doing since the government was created. There job is to do what the people want. which is what most nannys do. Anyways Drin related accidents are the top teen death in America. If this law was to pass all it would show is how much the government can care less about the teenage people. The only law passed was the law stating that black people cant get into college over a white person due to his heratige. The only reason a black person or any other person should make it over someone is if they desirve it. Not by where their from!

    dance club owner

you are right on alot of things, but when you run a good night club with an officer of the law at your door. That alone contains the problems that anyone could have. So be careful when you make statements like that when some of us would like 2 more hours of entertianment.
