Tell the people of Michigan it's for SCHOOLS! Then they will buy it without question. Public safety is so passe.

I am sick and tired of the State telling us what is good for us! What if the township decides it needs to spend money on a library or road repairs? What if a county wants to spend money on public health? It is not for Lansing to decide how local governments spend locally raised money!! Keep your Lansing nose out of it! If you want money spent on public safety, you spend it!

Read the bill. It is ridiculous! It doesn't even include the court system. It would mandate that every unit of government must contract for policing or emergency services. What about small, rural townships that rely on the county sheriff general patrol? Will they have money they can't spend? Stupid bill!

The point of the Headlee amendment is to cap taxes. Why should this allow an increase?

When the bill was brought up for a vote by Dems, a handful of their own members who occupy "swing" seats refused to vote yes, because they knew they would get hammered for approving a tax increase. Republicans were all voting "no." (It's likely some of them would like to vote "yes," but realize they too would get hammered.)

I think we should do away with Headlee, tax groceries and medications in addition to services and no wimpy 2%, 10% across the board and a 10% income tax! That should satisfy the dems feeding at the public trough, at least for a couple months!

This state has 1 very serious problem. LANSING! From the guv through the legislature they should go!

Another tax increase, however it is disguised, and then to dictate how it will be spent makes it clear that people do not have a clue about the morons that they are electing!
