Introduced in the House on February 13, 2007, to slightly relax certain deadlines in a provision of the state property tax law that allows the deferral of delinquent property tax fees for back taxes owed on the principle residence of certain individuals, including senior citizens, the disabled, etc

I opose this bill. There is already ample notiice time as well as opportunities to appeal if done in an expedient manner.

There are far too many taxpaying citizens who are having trouble paying their property taxes. The default time has already been reduced by 1 year. Given the current Michigan economy, anything the legislature can to to reduce the confiscatory nature of property taxes at this time is most welcomed by the average home owner!

Ample notice or not, the current late fees are so EXCESSVIE it would be illegal usury for a private person to charge them. Come on, this is a perons' home we're talking of here, the State does not need to be downright EVIL to collect necesary taxes!

what those taxes pay for before we call them NECESSARY. we would have a lot few taxes to pay if the state only busied itself with the proper role of government. i don't see where ANY of the recent bills have been anything resembling the proper role of government. maybe if they did that in lansing instead of all the nonsense they have pumped out lately, people would be free to go about their business and able to keep their homes.

This would make it a little easier for senior citizens who rely on their homestead income tax credit to pay their property taxes. It's a simple, good idea.

the Homestead Property Tax Deadline Extension - sept 30th, the extension to file income is October 15th, why not make them the same date?
