    Dental Credit

Why just dentists? Why not nurses, or speech pathologists? Or janitors, or roofers, or computer repair techs? You have a budget shortfall to address. Until you have cut the $1.9 billion needed due to the SBT cut and the 70 million budget amount exceeded from last year, I don't want to hear one more program that gives away money to anyone for any reason, how ever wonderful and needed it may be.

Addressing the Access to Care Issues

I agree with this legislation. It's a start. Keeping the newly licensed dentist in the area and benefiting from their training will give the low-income public access to care. This issue is the number one topic among the oral healthcare professionals. How can we provide care to those who don't have the funds or the transportation to get the care they need. The newly licensed dentist has over $200k of debt. The dental/dental hygiene students usually can't work during their training due to time/class schedules/study time need to be successful in their programs. Giving them something would allow them to live on some funds they would receive. With the current financial situation of the State of Michigan, addressing this issue and providing care will be more critical in the near future. Kentucky has been considering something similar. They were considering absolving 1/3 of the new grad's debt after practicing 1 year in a clinic providing care to the under served.

    I agree maybe

Dentists need to step up to the plate. They charge ridiculous fees and even though it has been proven that poor dental conditions can cause a plethora of other health issues, they only care about their pockets. My uninsured son had a wisdom tooth go bad on him. I called the Red Cross only to be informed that he would have to go to another county to get help because not one single Dentist in our county (Lapeer) will volunteer their time to help the uninsured and low income. Shame on them all. Why should they even be allowed to get student loans from the government paid by taxpayers if they aren't required to give back??

How can I get rid of student loans? Went to Jordan College were not accrediated & closed. Leaving me & others with a worthless degree. You shouldn.t have to pay for something that you can't use. Why is no one taking a stand for the students???????????? Vivian @ 810 349 8248 thanks.

    Loans

"How can I get rid of student loans?" Pay them. If you did not check into whether your college was accredited before you enrolled, you're out of luck. I don't mean to sound harsh but the loan papers you signed did not state that you could default on your debt if the college was not accredited.
