    Is my safety worth less?

Why only police officers and investigators? Is the life of citizens worth less? Or are they just less worthy of trust? Why can I get a permit to carry a loaded .45, but can't carry a pepper spray equal to that of police? (And if the police want to have more powerful sprays, does that mean that the current 2% is lacking? If so, why expect ME to settle for it?) This bill needs either a BIG re-write to include ALL law abiding citizens or it needs to be shot-down!

    why even waste time

legislating pepper spray in the first place? if someone wants to carry 100% pepper spray to defend themselves with, let them. if someone wants to use a 12 gauge shotgun to defend themselves, let them. if you tell them they can't, you become responsible if they die because they couldn't.

    Second Class Citizens

Why are government employees always getting better treatment than taxpayers? Why are we always second class citizens? I can get a concealed carry permit for a firearm, but I can't carry 10% pepper spray? Come on!

    A better option

I agree with the earlier comments that a CPL licensee should not only be allowed to use 10 percent pepper spray, but should be encouraged to have it available as an alternative. Wouldn't it be better for a person being attacked to utilize this non-lethal form of protection rather than being compelled to use a firearm? This law should be amended to include all CPL licensees. There is no excuse for favoring LEOs and private investigators over CPL licensees.

    this is a bill who's

only purpose was to protect criminals. what legitimate purpose does it serve to limit law abiding citizens to a 'less than effective' level of pepper spray? none. what legitimate purpose does it serve to even think about legislating pepper spray in the first place? none. why have they done it? because they don't trust the law abiding citizens of the state of michigan with the tools to protect themselves. some criminal might get hurt, and THEY CAN BE TRUSTED to sue the pants off of anyone who stands still long enough. the state legislators would rather have law abiding citizens attacked brutally with no means of defending themselves (or a very innefective means at least) than to have every criminal in jail suing them. they can't take away a criminal's right to sue, so they take away a citizen's ability to defend themselves non-lethally. and as far as getting a concealed pistol permit is concerned, if there were any more flaming hoops involved, you'd have to have been brought up in a circus to get through them. permits should be issued to ANY LAW ABIDING CITIZEN at NO COST. it doesn't cost $150.00 to do a background check. the card itself doesn't cost $150.00. the "mandatory classes" are paid for by the person who applies for the license. there is no reason for this to be so expensive that only "the rich" can afford it.
