    Why police only?

I find it ironic that my CPL allows me to carry a potentially deadly weapon, yet by law I am prohibited from using the same quality of pepper spray that police and PI's will get to use? Why? And I ask "why" twice: Why do THEY feel the need for something more powerful if the 2% works? (My guess is that it doesn't, especially on an attacker high on meth.) Why are citizens -- especially those with CPLs -- not included? A curious double standard here: we are permitted to carry a firearm after passing all the checks and other requiremements, but NOT carry en effective non-lethal spray? One that even the COPS are demanding? I'm all for giving law enforcement every advantage so that they can do the job that we, the public, ask them to do. I am STUNNED when that same consideration is witheld for we citizens who don't have back-up or two-way radios and have to face attackers alone. This bill needs a dose of REALITY, and needs to be expanded to include ALL law abiding citizens!

    Us Vs Them

Once again, the general law-abiding public is left out. Why aren't we to be allowed this? Why does law enforcement get a tool that the rest of us do not? Are our live less valuable?

We should have effective sprays , too.

As with guns, the laws forbidding effective sprays only disarm the honest.

    yes, they are.

why limit the amount of capsicum in a pepper spray? it's silly on it's face. but it's another "protect the sheeple from themselves" type law that is actually "protect the politicians from the sheeple."

    thats the goal...

disarm the honest, shoot the criminals and misfits, put the rest in concentration camps and turn up the ovens. don't say it can't happen here... them guys in dresden said the same thing.

    why limit?

what's the logic in limiting the strength of pepper spray? it only "serves" the criminal interest. or the guys in lansing are afraid we might start carrying concealed habenero peppers around.

    a matter of trust

the michigan legislature OBVIOUSLY doesn't trust you with pepper spray. just like it doesn't trust you with firearms.

    What about the instructor?

After reviewing Bill No. 5902 I believe it needs a SUBSECTION (D) to include the instructor/training that is certified to teach the approved curriculum. It is standard practice that the students participating in the course be subjected to contamination. Thus if an instructor is teaching a 10% OC certification course than he/she (instructor) will be using, carrying, or in possession of 10% OC. -Brett

    been there, done that...

being exposed to 10% pepper spray is not as bad as the world would lead you to believe. it's not pleasant to be sure, but the effects are short lived, and no harm is done. and it IS a better control than the 2% being used now. new orleans police department uses 10% all year, especially during mardi gras, and would use stronger if it were readily available on the police market.
