    Description misleading

The bill is actually changing the law regarding Strobe Lights on the top of school buses. The strobe light is, currently, only an option to be used by the driver in the dark or under adverse weather conditions. Personally, I like the idea of alerting other motorists (under those conditions) that there is a large vehcile carrying children ahead of them. The current law is not broken or wrong and shoudl remain unchanged.

    it is misleading

and is trying to get legislation passed on a snappy title. on the other hand, if the inability to see the bright yellow paint job, reflective stripes, and sheer size of the bus doesn't get the average michigan driver to slow down when it's foggy, i don't think that a strobe light will either.

    Bad Idea!

As a school bus driver, I think this is just an awful idea! When conditions/visibility are poor, we need to be able to be seen continuously; not just when loading and unloading a student. There is danger to the passengers of a school bus while enroute to a student stop as well as while the bus is stopped in the road. I drive a rural route; that strobe is sometimes the only thing you can see through the fog/heavy snow-----WELL before you can ever see reds or yellows flashing. If this bill passes, the legislature is asking school bus drivers to drive in unsafe conditions.

    one more thing

for them to control. if they want control of the lights on the bus, let them leave the legislature and DRIVE ONE.

    Actually

the substitute that was passed by the house, no longer has anything to do with the strobe lights. It is simply changing the definition of "clearly and continously visible" in the current statute.

Strobe lights will set off drivers with seizure disorders

Do they want to get rid of strobe lights. Strobe lights would be BAD for drivers.

Well, maybe they shouldn't use them

Only the brand new ones in my school have them which should be rethought in all schools, obviously.
