Let me see if I've got this straight, Lamar. Your bill would rename the John C. Lodge Freeway after the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., but only for the southernmost mile between Michigan Ave. and some place under Cobo Hall. The rest of the Lodge would still BE the Lodge, but we couldn't CALL it that in public, because all the Lodge signs would have to be replaced with Dr. King signs. So street maps and addresses would still read "Lodge Fwy." but all the signs would direct drivers to the King Freeway (or, more likely, "MLK Fwy.").
Maybe I'll get that figured out after I decide whether these ritual renamings are really doing an honor, or if it's just a way for small-time politicians to mark their territory.
