    Ridiculous

One question. Can somebody please tell me how many shootings there were by CPL holders that took place in libraries? I'll bet $100 the answer is ZERO.

This bill is simply one small step in an attempt to create as many criminal empowerment zones as possible.

I am strongly opposed to this bill.

    HB4533

This us a ridiculous bill created by a closed minded indvidual.

There are enough CEZ's that law abiding citizens have to deal with.

Why do libraries have to be an unsafe zone?

    Just another feel good law

Why do our elected officials feel the need to introduce more needless laws just to make the sheeple believe they are doing their job? CCW permit holders have NEVER caused a problem with a gun in a public library. CCW holders have had extensive background checks and pose no threat to anybody. The people we have to be afraid of (criminals) do not, by definition, obey the law and will carry an ILLEGAL weapon anywhere they choose regardless of these laws.

Why are you wasting our tax money debating another useless law. We cannot afford this. Enforce the laws on the books now and this state will be a better place.

I am a registered voter and have a long memory.

    4533

Sheesh,, lets just mess this law up some more. I really think we need to go back to the way it was before both the congress and bleeding heart liberals, who don't have enough sense to see that a armed citzen is finally good. I think we sould really look at our congress and maybe do some work on finding some that will do the job as it should.

    HB4533

There has been no documented shootings in any Michigan librarys to even consider creating this law and to stop only the law abiding citizens that have a license to carry is even more ridiculous.
This law will only stop the licensed, background checked, trained citizen from protecting themselves.
Criminals will still be criminals and carry thier unlicensed weapons to prey upon the defenseless.

    Hooey

What a bunch of Hooey!! I sure hope the person who submitted this bill isn't my State Rep. If they are, I intend to see they do not get re-elected to ANY office.

    Not good

CPL holders wishing to use a library will have to leave their firearms in their vehicles outside, creating more of a potential hazard than this bill would save.

There are more pressing things needing attention than this. I will vote accordingly.

    HB4533

This is just another way that the anti-gun people are acting with out knowing all the facts. In the two years that Michigan has had the right to carry law enacted, not one single person that Carry's has committed a crime. They are trying to make laws to cover something that has never happen. There are far more important items that are causing problems to the citizens of Michigan, that the lawmakers should be worrying about rather then looking for problems.

    Library restrictions? Nonsense

This restriction is pure nonsense. The people who have a right to carry have this right because they passed the background checks required. They are not a group of criminals! We need to inforce the current laws NOT impose new laws against the population who want to protect their families.

I hope people remember those who sponsor this bill come next election!

I am strongly opposed to this bill!

I'll remember who votes for this

What a bunch of crap. Just how many CCW holders have caused trouble in public libraries, anyway? Or ANYWHERE, for that matter? Are the people who sponsor this bill going to protect me? I have a very long memory for folks who don't look out for my best interest, or the safety of my family.

    HB4533 should go away

Creating more weapons free (unsafe!) zones is a ridiculus idea! I for one will remember the polititions who try to slip stinkers like HB4533 in.

A waste of time and state money

So, they want to target people who have demonstrated ample safety and prudence? It sounds like discrimination to me. Last I checked, it was already a felony to carry a concealed weapon anywhere without a permit. Felons who are five feet from their property line with a firearm are not going to give a rip whether or not it's illegal to carry in a library.
This bill only targets permit holders. No one else.
Permit holders, who have amply shown they are responsible citizens.

    What's next?

Gas stations? Oh, here's a better one... Gas stations that sell alcohol! Yeah, that's the one, it has a really nice buzzword.

These sitting duck zones read like a shopping list to criminals. Why encourage them?

Consider the liability in depriving people of their right to self defense. Can we afford that?
  • 04-15-2003 3:04 PM In reply to

    No Defences

Now the terrorists will add Libraries to their easy prey list. These will be prime places if this bill passes
  • 04-19-2003 11:14 PM In reply to

    That's it! I've had enough!

What kind of mindless drival is this?! Libraries today, grocery stores tomorrow, shopping malls, etc., etc., etc.! It doesn't take Sherlock Holmes to figure out what is going on here! Our right continues to be erroded away! If we don't stop this, we're in trouble!
  • 04-23-2003 7:04 AM In reply to

    Stupid

This will force me to leave defence items in the car at the library [STUPID] . We should see if the people have any brains before they can be elected

Was there Danger Lurking in the Bookshelf?

This bill violates not only State law, but the 2nd Amendment. Spend your time working on POSITIVE legislative changes...like cleaning up murky language, and stay away from rediculious suggestions such as this.
