    Michigan NEEDS to pass this

As a citizen of Michigan I am SO SICK AND TIRED of smoking in public places. The fact that we STILL set aside entire sections of restaurants to promote a bad habit is disgusting to me and I for one have had it! It is an infringement on my rights as a citizen because secondhand smoke has been proven to negatively affect my health and the health of the employees who work in these establishments. It's time we as a state take a stand and demand that public facilities ban smoking to improve the health of our citizens and discourage those who still smoke from this life shortening habit. If someone chooses to smoke, that is their right, but when that choice affects others in the population negatively, they shouldn't be allowed to do it in public places. Just as people are allowed to drink, but when they get behind the wheel of a car and that decision to drink becomes a potential danger to others, it becomes illegal. The same should be true for smoking. If you smoke, smoke... but when you go to a public place and that decision could be a potential danger to others, it should by the same merit BECOME ILLEGAL!!!!! This bill has my vote. As an educator I wanna see our future generations be healthier and hopefully this will help that to happen.

    Spoken Like A True

nanny stater. Any other views you want to force on others. How about we just do away with that capitalism nonsense altogether. You are free to go to non smoking businesses. Business owners would all go smokeless if it would make them more money. Why do you want to use the iron fist of government to force PRIVATE BUSINESS to do it your way? Do you even understand capitalism or PRIVATE BUSINESS? Since you admitted to being an "educator" these are fair questions. As far as "potential dangers" go, where would you like to stop this? Drinking and driving should only be a crime if you harm someone or their property. Cars are a "potential danger" everytime you leave the driveway. Bathtubs are a "potential danger" as soon as they are installed and plumbed in. Don't even get me started on baseball bats and roller blades. Most things in life are a "potential danger". The nannies like you are more dangerous to this country than all the ather little "potential dangers" you can think of. As an "educator" most of the constitution and freedom might be a little foreign to you but it really has worked swell for a lot of years.
