after a great deal of grass roots effort by corrections officers through mass mailings to reps,pettitions, and phone calls, it seems that many michignaders are surprised that officers do not have the same bargaining abilities as other public safety employees,.. and that the chair of the committee where the bill went to its death, will not give it the chance for a vote. the chair of the (old labor committee) is a state representative who is among all the others that allowed the huge pay raises to commence for the gov. and our senate with out a vote. perhaps a new chair vote is in order. (H.B.4093) formerly H.B.5176

In light of the failure of this bill I am very dissapointed in those that we have depended on in government to care for their voters. With the recent tragic events that have galvanized our country into a deep seated need for service should we not take into consideration those who serve thier country and thier community every single day. Do not these local county corrections officers who faithfully serve thier county day in and day out deserve our repect and appreciation. Must we force them to barely scrape together whatever they can just to raise thier families in this the greatest country in the world. I beg, I implore the gentlemen responsible to bring this bill to fruition so those line corrections officers out there might see that we do respect and appreciate the work that they do. Is the dignity of our fellow man not the responsiblity of us all?
