Companies have already deliberately concealed these auto renewals from us when we purchase something. They are very tricky with this, and tell us that we did agree to the auto renewal when we originally purchased something from them. Too often, they will collect money that customers don't know about if they do not go over their credit card or banking statements.

With all of the hackers supposedly stealing info like this from negligent companies, they have no business retaining our personal records. After we agree to purchase something, our credit card or banking info should be deleted from their accounting system.

If I want to sign up for or purchase a product or subscription, I should be able to say how long I want it for. This is how we used to do it, but companies are so greedy now that they keep doing these things while we are unaware of it.

2011 Senate Bill 796 (Restrict product “service agreement” renewals )

Introduced in the Senate on November 3, 2011

Click here to view bill details.
