The funding for this would come from the Federal government. There is a genuine need to improve the health of our youth. If lifestyle changes and early detection of diseases can be made at an early age, the overall cost of this nations healthcare can be reduced. Our youth is our future. We need to invest in it.

I believe that there is no genuine need to add funding for health care already available through other sources and through other means. Why duplication of funding at the taxpayers' expense? The bleeding heart wording of this resolution makes it look like needy teens would be without medical care, if this resolution is not passed. Such is not the case. There are community health clinics which can meet the need.

A resolution for more funding -- which would be much less funding, would be to advertise the medical services that already are presently available, rather than stressing the Michigan taxpayer anymore with a State's deficit over 1 Billion.

Finally, Michigan politicians should wake up and not keep proposing legislation which continually puts this State in dire economic straits. I am disappointed in Roger Kahn and those who co-sponsored this defective and financially irresponsible resolution.
