House Bill 4229 would add to Michigan lawmakers benefits, the additional cost of paying state police to provide an escort for the funeral procession of a deceased Michigan politician.

Michigan ranks near the top in paying politicians. They are paid enough. They have more than adequate benefits -- much more than many of the taxpayers who pay their political livelihoods. Proposed laws like this should never see the light of day and be struck dead as soon as they are proposed.

Furthermore, politicians who propose such insults to the Michigan taxpayers should be duly voted out of office. I would hope that Mr. Fred Durhal will be sweating his next election.
