to raise revenue.

is this legal?

not yet.

SHOULD this be legal?

no.

is this GOING to be legal?

only if the democrats have their way. it was introduced by a democrat to raise revenue from drivers that pass through. if cities and townships want to change the speed limit on CITY STREETS, then let them. not STATE HIGHWAYS.

if there is NO REASON to slow down, then WHY SLOW DOWN? this wastes gas and time. but the dems don't care about that, do they?

Re:Stop It

There is. Eventually that crooked racket was shut down by the Michigan State Police.

Now Meadows is in the state House, and wants to bring revenue-generating speed traps to every city and village statewide. This bill would give mayors and village presidents veto power over speed limits on state highways through their cities.

This week the Detroit News has exposed how cities are using bogus speeding citations to replace the revenue sharing funds they no longer get from the state. The Meadows bill would greatly expand the take from this abusive practice.

2008 House Bill 6732

Introduced in the House on November 19, 2008

Click here to view bill details.
