There are certain intersections where going through the light in the right lane that ends soon after the light is the only way to get traffic moving. On 18 Mile and Mound you can sit through 6 lights or possibly more if no one is allowed to pass on the right. And there are no accidents because there are typically very slow people who allow several car lengths between them, thus bogging down traffic.
