gypsy is your typical "under the bed" liberal who thinks that conservatives are "over the top" on just about everything. Carrying a CCW has restrictions and should be followed but every person in the United States who is eligible to carry should be allowed to protect themselves from harm "at all times"! Listening to Obama/Biden/Clinton on U.N. gun controls and then trying to expand them to the U.S., coupled with Obama/Holder's Fast & Furious Operations that got Mexicans and U.S. border agents killed inorder to get public opinion to suspend our 2nd. Amendment rights is sickening.

Yes I am if you come into my home without my consent, if you brake into my home, if you accost me on the street or I see you trying to harm someone on the street you are damned right you are a criminal. Anyone that conducts themselves in this manner needs to be and must be met with force on force. It's the only way citizens are going to keep you thugs under control. As long as you fear me that is very excellent. I refuse to be your victim.

I want to advocate for any new self defense act changes, that you guys might introduce. Is this a constant issue that Rep. Rick Jones introduces?

There is a serious problem with police agencies not investigating and blow off citizens complaints of violence. The People should change the criminal and civil immunity that blankets police agencies, and officers., so when they conduct poor, sloppy, or otherwise investigates complaints under performance to there capabilities and standards. If its a foreseeable factor that future violence is more likely to happen then less likely, they should be required to diligently investigate and put in force any action necessary that will prohibit and prevent serious harm, deaths, assaults, harrasments so-on. If a cop fails to do there job, and someones hurt over it, then damages done should correlate to the officers punishiment. A fine for a bruise. up to 90 days if somesones seriously hurt, and up to 10 years if someone dies, as a result of there inadequate and underperformanced investigation. They get paid tax money, "our money" to protect us. Thats there job. So when they dont protect us, they basically are stealing that money.

Bird. I am 66 and cannot evoke the physical strength needed to repel even a Jr. Hi kid (health prolems don't make it any better). I obtained my CPL last year. I own 5 pistols of varying calibers, one rifel and 2 shotguns and more than 5000 rounds of ammunition collectively. Every day that I go out, I carry, even to the mailbox, I even carry in my own home and on my property. Now. What is important is that the courts have clearly indicated that police officers have no legal duty to protect individual citizens but are obligated to the citizens at large, (Warren v. District of Columbia). So. My question is, "Who is going to protect you when you are attacked by a criminal?" Maybe Gypsy in an earlier post on tasers. Also, the Department of Justice, in a national study, revealed that the average time for the police to respond to a violent criminal call is one hour. The shortest response time I found was 30 minutes. These two facts alone demonstrate a need for every citizen to become armed legally, and trained, and have all viable options to deadly force. Research and research some more on the law and cases to CYA. The law says one thing and the legislators carried an intent with the law, but the police and Prosecutors may look at it differently and you could be in a world of hurt when you face 12 jury members.

United States Concealed Carry Association has a web site you can connect to to get insurance that covers retainer fees and up to $25,000 in lawyer costs, but its expensive.

Amendment offered by Rep. Rick Jones (R) on April 25, 2006, to remove provision that a person who breaks and enters into a dwelling or occupied vehicle is presumed to be doing so with the intent to committ an unlawful or violent act. The bill instead establishes a rebuttable presumption that this is the case. The amendment passed by voice vote in the House on April 25, 2006.
