I couldn't agree more. The Bridge Card is a way of life for so many and they know every trick. I really think they should randomly audit and if they have a huge flat screen TV, a new car, the designer clothes and accessories, an I-Phone, take it away. We watch them buying the best products - no problem. I have worked for 35 + years and anticipate another 10 years and I'm looking for every no-brand, mark-down & sale. I say only for the really needy and no more than 2 years. One grocery store by me tells me 80% of their intake is on the Bridge Card and one cashier says the same people have been using it since she started - 27 years ago and now their kids have one too!! There is a real problem. Also, how about the work for the money, or tie what they get to school attendance for their kids. Do something because the rest of us paying for all this are very angry about the abuse.

This is a ridiculous waste of time! Bridge card recipients will simply withdraw their cash from an ATM before entering the casinos. This is like telling people they no longer have access to running water in their homes because you outlawed outside spiggots. The state needs to stop the practice of using bridge cards for any type of cash transactions. Any non food purchases should be done through a voucher system that uses the lowest bidder as it's source for redemption of the voucher. Welfare needs to be a temporary way of life for those in need and not a permanent source of cash to do with as one pleases.

Why should ATM cash machine suppliers be forced to work with state agencies to establish a way to stop a welfare recipient’s “bridge card” from being used to withdraw cash in a casino? All you dopes have to do is to stop allowing welfare recipients to withdraw money from their bridge cards.

Don't you think that even if you do come up with a way to stop withdrawals from casino ATMs that these people will just make sure that they withdraw money before they go to the casino?

I think you people are too lame to come up with other ideas, so you just agree on whatever the easiest band aid fix to any issues you vote on. You have no common sense or imagination.

Introduced in the Senate on February 8, 2011, to require state agencies to work with ATM cash machine suppliers to establish a way to stop a welfare recipient’s “bridge card” from being used to withdraw cash in a casino. “Bridge cards” are debit cards that have replaced food stamps and cash welfare payments
