If you care to notice, this bill was introduced at the end of January 2007, early in the current legislative term which now is about to end. The bill has lain dormant in committee ever since, as well it should have.

SB 113 is nothing more, and nothing less than political game-playing – introduction of a worthless bill that “solves” or “addresses” a bogus “problem” but is sure to stir up the Yahoos by playing to their worst fears, and ultimately pit neighbor against neighbor over a non-issue. It exemplifies the worst kind of politics.

Let me get this straight, even hearing the pledge is somehow compliance with it? So by that logic, if I overhear a pldge to a foriegn country I am participating in that pledge????? In order to opt out of the recitation, one only need not recite. I am not in support of a law requiring the pledge being recited daily, but I certainly don't support banning it so that someone's tender ears don't overhear it against their will.

How can a person choose to "opt out" if the Pledge is broadcast daily over school PA system? I work in our school and am having a hard time dealing with this daily announcement. I currently leave my assigned duty area and leave 4 students requiring supervision unsupervised becasue the only way I can "opt out" is to leave the building during the announcements. I am looked at as being "unpatriotic" because of how I view the Pledge. I have believed this my whole life (I am almost 49 years old)

to give blood, and attend doctors. i have no problem with a religion not wanting it's members to recite the pledge. what i have a problem with is those that DON'T HAVE A RELIGION not wanting to recite the pledge. they don't mind making use of the government services, such as the public school they are attending, but don't want to show loyalty to the flag of the country footing the bill. if they have THAT big of a problem with the pledge, how about they attend a PRIVATE SCHOOL where they don't have to recite it. i'm sure the jehova's witnesses have an excellent school system.

DO say about the pledge is that they refuse to SALUTE THE FLAG and refuse to be FORCED TO SALUTE THE FLAG, because ultimately all human governments are instituted by satan, and to salute the flag would be to salute satan. we're not sure where in the bible the basis for this theory comes, but i'm sure someone will tell us soon. i'm sure the the jews in israel, believing that they are governing over the 'PROMISED LAND', following the word of God, would take acception to that theory. i'm also sure that the muslims in the world, believing that they are ruling according to the word of allah, would also take acception to that theory. i could go on, but suffice it to say, that if the jehova's witnesses believed that saying the pledge was proscribed by God, then they wouldn't allow their children to attend public schools, where the would be forced to recite it. there have been lawsuits, and still no definitive proscription has been listed, only church dogma. this is the reason that other religions form religious instruction institutions.

do NOT have a proscription against reciting the pledge at school. they DO have a proscription against giving blood, dying their hair, and marrying out of their faith. try again.

Jehovah's Witnesses do not say the pledge due to religious beliefs -- I believe it has something to do with idolatry.

Please try to learn something. "do not believe in where are country is headed" "Are" country just happens to be the brightest light on this rock. The reason that some other folks don't like us is because of just that. Try being in first place, the rest of the league is always gunning for you. It is truly a shame that you are stuck in one of the government socialist education camps. My best advice to you is to question the lib teachers on everything. talk to older folks, try getting both sides and making up your own mind. If at this point you still "do not believe in where are country is headed" then please leave. There are lots of socialist options open to you. Maybe france if it hasn't been taken over by the islamofacists yet, or iran, try telling them folks that you "do not believe in where are country is headed" Good Luck Remember, if you were in a Catholic school you wouldn't hear them teaching you that religion is bad. Why would you expect that a government school would teach you anything other than government is great?

actually know what a pledge is? i'm sure that he/she/it believes that it's simply a stack of words the mean old teacher makes him/her/it recite once a day. i don't know of any organized religion that prohibits the pledge of allegience, can you name one that does?

I can see that there is some controverse in saying the pledge but as a student you have to see where we are coming from. Many people do not recite it because of religious reasons, and some do not recite it because they simply do not believe in where are country is headed. Besides, if its a pledge why do we have to say it everyday?
