 YAY!!! It's about time the State requires teachers to have a mastery of English grammar.  I've been so disappointed by assignments, and even formal letters I've seen coming from teachers with pitiful grammar and spelling issues.  When it comes from High School teachers in a supposedly exemplary school - then we know we're in trouble!

PLEASE - PASS THIS BILL!

No matter what language you use to speak or write, using correct grammar not only helps you communicate more effectively and precisely, or while preparing your business, but also helps you avoid embarrassment. Around the world, correct grammar is an indication that the speaker or writer is an educated person who understands the nuances of the language, while grammar errors can indicate that you are not focusing on your words or, worse, that you do not understand the mechanics of your own language.

Wow, it's about time! You guys in Lansing are now really getting at the heart of what's wrong in Michigan. Students are held captive to poorly educated public school teachers who don't even speak good English, and it's their native language! We sure pay for a lot of post-grad education in the latest fads for teachers and lots of inservice days- How about replacing diversity training with English remedial training? We have an occupational therapist assigned to my local elementary school (??) and also an ESL teacher-all kids in the school are native English speakers! How about a tutor instead, who can give teachers brush up tests on their own grammar and writing skills? I started a MA program at a local university branch and was told by my writing and research faculty adviser that I should go to the "libary". I guit the program in disgust-
