So they want to repeal a law that allowed me to take action against someone who unlawfully broke into my house with me sleeping in it? Do I now have to ask them their intent before I shoot them? This is asinine.

Democrats are pushing this because they want to get on the Trayvon Martin bandwagon. That is all it is. They are pandering for votes. One problem, tell that to the residents of Detroit who have to defend their property at all times because thugs/criminals are invading their property every day. If this law was to get passed these property owners don't have a chance to survive these encounters. Democrats............use your heads for once! Every second counts on a home invasion and I'm not going to give a criminal a multiple choice question when confronted in my house at any time. He is going to see his maker and this repeal legislation is a joke and if pushed forward all of you will be primaried to become unemployed. That is a promise! We are watching your next move!

Hi The general criminal law allows for the use of necessary and proportionate, non-deadly force in self-defense anytime the victim reasonably believes that unlawful force is about to be used on him. The force used in elf defense must reasonably appear to be prevent the attack and must be proportionate to the gravity of the attack.
