And what is the particular point of such an exemption other that to set law officers up as a special class above us commoners? I favor "constitutional carry" as found in Alaska, Arizona, and Vermont, Wyoming, and parts of Montana. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constitutional_Carry.

I like this and also favor "constitutional carry" as found in Alaska, Arizona, and Vermont, Wyoming, and parts of Montana.  Stop being a sheep and become a sheep dog, help those that can or will not help themselves.  In my classes,"the shariff said he would do his best to find the person that had killed me and solve the crime.  But, it is up to me to protect myself and my family and others after being trained on carrying a hand gun."  Maybe some of the sheep dogs could stop some of the murders that take place every day in the USA.  Send a message to the criminal - we are now able to carry a gun to protect ourselves and others.  Wouldn't that be something!

I like it!! For those who don't get it let me say, it's another shot at the anti-handgunners. It's another brick in the wall so to speak and the more bricks we, as citizens, see going up the better off we are.

My understanding is that when Dave Grossman wrote his famous essay about sheepdogs (http://www.killology.com/sheep_dog.htm) he was not talking about ordinary citizens who were armed, although he is not specific on the subject, but about law enforcement professionals. Perhaps I am mistaken; I hope that I am. Ido, though, still object to law officers being treated as special when there is no need to do so. They have the training; all they need to do is submit a bit of paper work. Their employers can even reimburse them for expenses. I ask again, "What is the point?"

Enlighten me. Again, why is this necessary? The LEO's don't feel special enough now that they have to get a purchase permit like us commoners? It's more convenient for them to obtain a permit as they are already at the station and can apply when at work unlike we who must take time off from our jobs. Just another wedge between us and them...like the Congress passing laws for us citizens but exempting themselves from the very same rules.

Hi, Most law enforcement is conducted by some type of law enforcement agency, with the most typical agency fulfilling this role being the police.Various specialized segments of society may have their own internal law enforcement arrangements.
