This Bill has lots of new language and would eliminate a great deal of language. Wonder if the Co-Sponsors have actually read all of this Bill ?

Governor Snyder and the Republican Caucus have said much about getting rid of "burdensome regulation" on business. Will have to check with horsemen to see if this is actually the case with this legislation. On the surface, this Bill seems to re-regulate as appose to de-regulate, and consolodates political power, while raising income to the State. There may be a back door attempt to save a racing licence for the folks at Pinnacle Park, the defunt race track by Metro Airport. Those folks were essentially handed out free land and tens of millions of tax dollars. This particular piece of land has been of interest since the Engler Administration. Politicians and Businessmen looking to use tax money for private purposes keep changing the name of the property to confuse the public. Snyder and his pals at Business Leaders for Michigan have been calling this The Aerotropolis.

Senator Colbeck, under his constitutional right of protest (Art. 4, Sec. 18), protested against the passage of House Bill No. 5546 and moved that the statement he made during the discussion of the bill be printed as his reasons for voting “no.” The motion prevailed. Senator Colbeck’s statement is as follows: In examining Article 4, Section 41 of the Michigan Constitution, I have concerns that this bill may not be constitutional.
