I bought my property in Michigan about six years ago. I overhauled the whole thing new, wiring, insulation, carpet, drywall, cabinets, roof everything. It was a cute little house. What I have received in return: no rent paid, the stove stolen, the carpet ruined and tenents that can't pay $450 a month in rent, plumbing stolen, air conditioner stolen, holes in the walls, etc. I have had to evict everyone of the tenants, at my cost, with a loss of about a year and a half in rent. I'm not making money on this rental. It will take me years and years to even re-coop my investment if ever and now you want me to pay to store the trash these deadbeats are leaving behind. One girl left a freezer in the basement, in the middle of summer, with food in it and no electricity. You can't even imagine how many flies were in the house and the mess that had to be cleaned up. This house is now like a noose around my neck. I just received notice the Michigan taxes are going up and the Insurance rates went up by a third last year. YES A THIRD! My best hope is that a tornado comes through and wipes the house out. Quit giving people handouts and make them responsible. Landlords should not be responsible If tenants don't take with them what is important to them after they quit paying rent.
And why do I have to register my rental property with the state when I register it with the county. Isn't that double dipping. My pockets are empty.
