Despite overwhelming support by the voters in Michigan, state and local politicians continue to do everything they can to prevent the use of marijuana for medical uses. Perhaps Senator Jones' constituents should not reelect him.

This is dumb! Although I dont particularly like the medical marijuana law on the books, marijuana as a treatment for symptoms of glaucoma is one of the first and most researched reasons for the use of marijuana as a medication. To try to specifically outlaw this is beyond stupid. Dont disguise your dislike for the current law by attempting to ban its use as a well-researched and well-recognized specific treatment. One has to wonder just what goes through these legislators little pea-sized brains when they come up with these bills!

I'm sure you are not a doctor and have no friggen clue what relief marijuana can have on a person with glaucoma.

Are you trying join other Republicans in "stupid is as stupid does"?

Does a person qualify for a marijuana license if they have "anxiety"?  Yes!  Why?  Everyone has some type of anxiety!  This marijuana law needs to be repealed and the sooner the better.  It is creating a monster out there and we all know whatis going on so quit BS'ing everyone.  It is a bad law!

The first medical marihuana patient to participate in the Federal Investigational new drug program proved in the US Supreme court that marihuana was the only thing to stop him from going blind, What they depend on now is the process, let me explain. Today will be the second 'Public Hearing' on the Amendments they are going to make to the medical marihuana law. They will hear from the Special Interest Groups that they have been talking to just like they did at the first hearing. And then, after hearing from law enforcement, the Prosecuting Attorneys Association, the so called 'stake holders' in medical marihuana we might get to listen to 2 minutes of input as long as you keep it specifically about these bills, then they will vote. They will not let anyone that does not agree with 'their agenda' talk. Any first year high school debater could tear apart the lack of logic that this represents. We don't beat them because of apathy. If you don't like the marihuana law on the books, tell me what particular part you have a question about, I would be glad to let you know why it is is the law. Most people have not read it twice, yet they tell us it is gray, like where does someone get seeds, etc. All things that can be easily answered, they just don't let anyone with a brain talk, they work their system. We have to FIRE THEM VOTE VV

This has to be one of the stupidest comments I have ever read, let me explain. Yes, we all do know "what is going on out there". Point #1 Recreational Marihuana is the Number One Cash Crop grown inside of the United States, an undisputed fact. And if you can believe anything the ONDCP says we import billions of dollars more of marihuana. Point #2 Marihuana has been used by an estimated 100 million Americans, if there is any harm from marihuana SHOW ME THE BODIES, they would be stacked up outside like cord wood. Point #3 Marihuana is not, and has never been the problem drug and now 37,000 deaths + per year, the Number One cause of accidental death in 17 states and D.C. as reported by the drug czar, Gil Kerlikowse, Prescription Drugs used recreationally. Now, considering that over 50 percent of all medical care is paid for by "our government" what that means is you my friend are a dupee, you are paying for a doctor visit, a prescription, and fueling the drug market with product you pay for that ends up in the streets and our kids and grandkids are dying from there use. We have 5% of the Worlds Population and 25% of the World's prison population, check out the reasons before you tell us "what is going on out there".

Sooo...the prohibition of marihuana will kill him, that is sad, don't you think. drug policy should be based on reducing the harm from drugs, right?? And what does the marihuana laws of California have to do with the laws of Michigan. It's too bad you don't have any actual evidence of harm caused by the marihuana, I suspect you just have stock in a Pharmacy. VV

Boy, Rick Jones is really becoming the Nanny State Senator of the year! Is there anything he does not feel qualified to dictate about our lives? I hope the voters in his district are paying attention!

Anxiety is not the normal anxious feelings all persons experience from time to time in response to life experiences but rather the overbearing, crushing, near constant anxious state that is a very real mental disorder. Get a clue!

I am an invalid that was damaged by a back surgeon and could not work anymore - you'll never understand how depressed that can make an individual.

I now used medical marijuana for the CONSTANT pain because Vicodin and Oxycodin became so addicting I nearly died.

Pray that this never happens to you.

Legalize pot - tax it - and monitor the growers. That may stop all the murders relating to smuggling into the US.  It's a BIG waste of dollars to try to stop it cause it'll never happen - look at the money spent in Columbia and coke is still avaliable everywhere you look.

If you want to do something constructive - don't let doctors prescribe the MOST ADDICTIVE pain killers on the market. Oh - I forgot - kickback from pharmaceutical companies and their 'lobbyists' won't let that happen.
