HB 5245 introduced by Rep. Schmidt presumes the Cobo Convention Facility Authority was constitutionally created in compliance with the 1978 Headlee Tax Limitation Amendment in our Michigan Constitution. It wasn't and isn't. A new unit of government with taxing authority can't be legally created without the voted majority of grassroots taxpayers expected to pay the tax. Rep. Schmidt should know better than to try to add another illegal tax on top of the already illegal tax on motel/hotels. That would exacerbate legislative fraud on grassroots taxpayers. It was about time for this to happen. This kind of things should not happen, a lot of tourists have been complaining about it. I am relieved that I don't have use a hotel of this kind, I am booked for my summer vacation on Heathrow terminal 5 parking, there's no room for bad surprises there.

Yes, hopefully this will raise the ratings of some hotels, as a tourist I am not a fan of this tax, we need some sense of fairness. I recently had the chance to get wet in Bali and it was an awesome experience, I wish I could have so much fun in our country too.

I've noticed how companies like Parrot Cay rentals get a loyal clientele in our city because they are fair with their customers and employees. Nobody wants to pay extra for an unnecessary service so i agree with this tax.

I was hoping you would mention few things about the parking spots as well. I learned to take this factor into account, I always check it after I learned this the hard way. For my summer vacation I am already booked at Gatwick hotel with parking, because having a safe parking space when I'm on holiday is an important deal for me.
