    2011 Senate Bill 532 (Revise leaking underground fuel tank law )

    Introduced in the Senate on June 28, 2011, to lower the penalties for missing a reporting deadline under the law that governs the clean-up of leaking underground fuel tanks, and revise the penalties for a person who fails to comply with an administrative order requiring corrective action. This is part of a package comprised of Senate Bills 528 to 533

    The vote was 26 in favor, 12 opposed and 0 not voting

    Its too bad the fees for late report are still at that level for the Final Assessment Report. Those fees were specifically in the law because MUSTFA said right to the senator's face that the money will be there so the owners can define the extent of contamination within a year. For some sites, one year is awfully fast and can go through a lot of money. Small owners could not afford it even if they have insurance because the insurance companies are not reliable. This needs to change in the house.
