Why would anyone want such a law?  There is nothing as bracing as the nauseous oder of diesel fumes in the wind!  Besides, being a state noted for its diesel flatulence will enhance the tourist industry.

Ok, lets see, Diesel Fuel is in Excess of $4.00 per gallon, an Ideling Diesel Truck uses approx 1 gal. per hour ideling at std. Idle, and more if on High Idle to keep warm in the winter or Cool to sleep in the Summer. The large trucking companies can and are setting the idle time on a truck to approx 5 then it automatically shuts down, this decreases wear on the internal parts of the engine to let them cool from on-road use. This law is not necessary, it is based on old technoligy, and old sterotypes of Diesel Engines, the new 2010 and newer Diesel engines emit cleaner air than the air they take in.. So this law is only going to generate revenue for the Governmental entitiy where the un-educated public have the power to issue citations....

A few issues I've seen in cold climate Diesels

    - Fuel freezing/gelling, either in storage or in lines
    - Freezing of crankcase breather systems
    - Freezing of condensation in exhaust system
    - Over-ventilation of enclosure causing excessive cooling of engine
    - Starter battery failure
    - Starter motor failure
    - Freezing of jacket water system

Diesel idling bill restriction?????  You have to be kidding right?  This has to be a liberal whack-o that brought this forward.  When the weather is  5 degrees the diesel engine has to idle moron!  In case you haven't noticed, Michigan is a cold state!  Get out of the basement once in awhile and take a deep breath.

Old fashioned progressive where the welfare of the individual has a direct effect on the welfare of the state. Therefore, government's job needs to be to make sure that everyone has the same opportunities to succeed. That basic needs are met. Healthy citizens = healthy society.

And you TaterSalad, sound like a typical mindless, imbicle, who is easily lead...

The old cradle to grave routine that progressives/ liberals and communists love to resite.  Typical liberal BS!  Same as your beloved Obamacare.........which by the way......is coming to a very short conclusion.

Apparently, inhaling diesel exhaust also gives one the power to see into the future.
