Introduced in the Senate on July 13, 2011, to convert the state film incentive program into straightforward handouts, rather than indirect ones, with payments to film producers of up 32 percent of their Michigan payroll expense, plus some additional subsidies. Reportedly the bill’s sponsor wants to increase the subsidies from $25 million already appropriated in 2012 to $100 million annually

The vote was 34 in favor, 4 opposed and 0 not voting

SUBSIDIES, SUBSIDIES, SUBSIDIES!   NO MORE SUBSIDIES!!

If the State of Michigan has so much money to hand out for subsidies - then the people of Michigan are truly taxed too much!

"Introduced by Sen. Randy Richardville (R) on July 13, 2011, to revise the state film incentive program, converting it into a straightforward subsidy program rather than an indirect one, with awards of up to 30 percent of the expenses a film producer incurs in Michigan. Reportedly the bill’s sponsor wants to increase the subsidies from $25 million already appropriated in 2012 to $100 million annually. "

I am grateful at this outcome and look forward to getting back to work.

I agree that a minimum of $100 million annually would return the Michigan Film Industry to the number 1

position nationwide that we proudly enjoyed in 2010.

Thank you for taking the time to investigation the impact on those of us who make our living

working in the film industry - and also those industries (hotels, hardware, security, transport etc) affected by

the recent loss of the film industry.

Total Rip off of the Tax Paying Public !!!

Governor Snyder and the Republican Caucus snatched money from pensioners, homeowners, the working poor, K-12 schools, university students and their parents, in order to give money to his friends at Business Leaders for Michigan.

Thanks to my Senator, Arlan Meekhof, for taking a stand against these misguided handouts.

Let the markets pick the economic winners, not the guys in Lansing.

I really like the ideas that you offer for all of this. So many great options will be done with this. Keep up the good work. Pest Pro Canada
