What happened to the idea of a "user fee".  IOW, let the users of the roads pay for the cost. Everyone pays fuel taxes because it's included in the price of the product. This is just a hidden tax "earmarked for transportation" according to the bill. That, in my opinion, is just another way to increase revenue for mass transportation projects.

As long as we have the right to vote, I will vote. Anytime the government wants to dig into my pocket (by raising taxes ) "sorry", but my vote is no. We are over taxed to the gills now, and anybody that votes yes for this must be crazy. Just ask any senior, underworked, or underpaid worker in this country.

Taxes on one thing over another provide incentive to spend more on the other over the one.  Higher sales tax reduces incentive to spend on home and entertainment, which spending stimulates the economy.  Lower gasoline tax reduces incentive to conserve transportation fuels and the purchase of more energy efficient automobiles.  This resolution has stupidity written all over it.  Or should we ask, in whose oil company's pockets are the hands of our legislature?
