What a joke!  Unfortunately it shows what happens when citizens decide to effect change.  The SYSTEM attacks and make laws that single out individual groups.  Let's change the constitution and make our lawmakers part-time, a unicameral form of gv't, and take away all medical benefits for them

Discrimination is the first thought and the second is vindication for all the poor grades earned by the inappreciative.  An amendment to this bill should require every legislator to spend a week in a classroom with the sole responsibility for planning, teaching, keeping order, taking phone calls from parents at home, and making reports as required.  Every level of the instructional spectrum should be included in this week -- elementary, middle school, high school, special education resource room and special education self-contained program.

Good, but not enough. Persuant to equal protection, shouldn't this apply to all workers? And by the way, I think this will also be good for workers. The dues will be there because the workers want them to be and the union can actually be about workers rather than about politics.

This shouldn't apply to any workers, whether MEA or others. Unions must be "about" politics to protect the interest of it's members, as we are seeing in Michigan and other states around the nation now with Republican majorities giving tax breaks to corporations while taking from public workers.

I would hope that this bill gets passed and the sooner the better.

This bill is about politics, not education.

You've got it right. The MEA is only about politics. It doesn't have anything to do with education.

Was this bill really necessary? I thought that this is an intrinsic right for these people, they are after all working adults. What else should we expect in the work field of our nation?
