Snydercare is Obamacare at the state level and just as bad! We shouldn't even be wasting time and money on this government monstrosity. WE THE PEOPLE DO NOT WANT IT! What exactly was not understood in the 2010 election outcome?

Creating an exchange is not a hedge:your-bet strategy but a sabotage-your-bet strategy. The patient protection and affordable care act is unconstitutional and will be declared so. The legislation will not be enacted. Currently, each state can opt-out, so do not pile flawed state legislation on top of flawed federal legislation

I'd rather have the federal government create an insurance exchange than Snyder.

You mean the health care insurance industry, right? I'm certain you would like to see the insurance companies making even larger profits than they are, but you don't want to stop the government from funding the research to find cures for disease, or to keep the FDA from protecting us from dangerous drugs. Right?

How sad.  Our Government has proven time and time again that they can't handle what they already have.  I have been taking care of my own health for almost seventy years and for over 30 years without insurance, which means I have to take care of me.  What a concept, putting my health in my own hands.  It is very understandable that there are many that REALLY need medical care and they have my prayers and I wish them the best.  Government health care sure isn't the answer.

So, how do you like Medicare though?

He paid for medicare though payroll deductions whether he liked it or not.  The point is he is not standing in line with his hand out. perhaps you would have a different view if you ever had to actually write the check each month for your health care policy.

He was lucky he wasn't struck with cancer, an accident, or another health crisis that would have bankrupted him with out insurance. At his/her age, he wouldn't be able to get insurance he could afford now. How would my view be different if I had to write a check for my insurance rather than pay for it out of the wages I earned? Would I not welcome Medicare, or Medicaid if I couldn't afford insurance? Would I be against Obamacare? No, I've got more sense, and experience, to know that I need health insurance with today's extremely high cost of medical treatment. Would I like to see a single payer system? You betcha!

Well you are wrong again. My wife retired last year and is using her COBRA option. She was just diagnosed with RA . At present she pays $490.00 a month for her health insurance  though Cobra. Under Obama Care when her 18 months runs out on Cobra she has to go 6 months without insurance, then she can go on ObamaCare at $789.00 per month  with the first 6 months not covering anything to do with her RA.The new law allows BCBS not to insure any pre-existing conditions and no other carriers will cover them either. Without this law she could continue the coverage with BCBS at about the same rate as she pays now. Also the ObamaCare insurance has the same deductables and copays the extra $299.00 per month gives no better coverage.
If you actually wrote the check you would realize the cost directly.

Without Obamacare, she couldn't get insurance at all. The lower price under cobra reflects the price her former company bought insurance for, at a discount from what the individual pays. BCBS always was not obligated to insure those with pre-existing conditions. Under Obamacare, she will be able to buy insurance. But contrary to popular belief, she won't be forced too. If she doesn't want insurance, she can just pay a relatively small amount in taxes instead. Not a wise choice, but she may be getting advice from a not so wise source.

Again you are wrong,  BCBS  would have continued her coverage because the condition occurred under her coverage with them . It was part of their non-profit status with the state of Michigan. As far as the advice she is recieving, you seem to forget that I ran my own business for 37 years and had group insurance for dozens of employees. Now would you think the advice from a UAW  worker would be a sound decision?

I am not wrong. The new law does not prevent BCBS from insuring her with a pre-existing condition. You are blaming Obamacare for what BCBS is doing. I know it fits your picture, but is not reality.

I wouldn't think of giving you advice. You apparently don't need it, and wouldn't take it anyway. Best wishes for your wife in dealing with her condition.

Obamacare gives BCBS an out that was not there before. Thank you for your best wishes.

Whether it's called Obamacare, Romneycare, an Exchange, a health care Compact or a Health Care Co-op.... it's all socialized medicine.  Big government (Federal and/or State) central planning never works.  We need real free-market health care reforms that will naturally keep prices competitive, keep innovations coming through a profit motive and keep the power of choice with the individual.
