Why? Most plastic bags are made from recycled plastics - oh I know let's put another industry out of business, that's what the country and specifically Michigan needs! Who would get the exceptions??? Stop trying to tax us - we pay enough already and I don't want to carry around a so-called eco-friendly bag with me every time I want to run to the store.

In answer to your question, "Why?"  It's because they CAN.  Why the $0.10 deposit on cans?  Other states go with $0.05.  Because they CAN.  And don't think they won't.

Sure.  Lets make life as a corporation doing business in Michigan just a little bit harder.  And while we're at it, make groceries cost a little bit more for the people.

Tax the guy who proposed this bill for blowing smoke, or coughing because he emits disease germs, or for being stupid because he suggests such draconian and idiotic taxes.  Tax democrats for occupying seats in the legislature and poluting the law with their stupidity.

This is not the worst law that has been passed by our Representatives. I heard about a law passed in Georgia that donkeys may not be kept in bathtubs. As strange as that my sound, we need these regulations to function. When I was working at a bar equipment company a lot of my fellow employees were constantly making a lot of unsafe decisions at the work place, so people need these rules to be guided by, even if some are out of the ordinary to say the least.

Not the worst tax, what??? This is ridiculous enough with the taxes. I went to walmart on friday and had about 10 bags because she double bagged the heavy items. These small insidious taxes add up and it is basically legalized theft. NO MORE TAXES even if you think it's only a penny, I still bend down on the street to pick up pennies.

This bill is one more reason to run democrats out iof state government.  They have nothing to do but dream up money schemes to bankrupt the state and steal disposable income from tax payers.  Stupid bill . . . stupid legislator.  Watch out for the state that will giuve you everything you want . . . it will also take everything from you.  This just a foot in the door to raise taxes . . . creeping socialism and creeping taxation.  Next year or two the bag tax will be 2 cents and eventually 10 cents.  So don't enact this bill.

What will they tax next ? CrazyforBargains footed pajamas ? Are we ever going to be able to buy stuff that we want at really decent prices ? or do we need to tip the government on all things (even necessities) ? I think it's becoming more and more abusive and frankly I don't know if there is anything we can do.
