What for? So we can subsidize more Mikey Moore crockumentaries and other liberal movie producers?  Let other states subsidize the Hollywood multimillionaires.  Aren't these the same people that will complain about oil company subsidies?

Governor Snyder campaigned for a tax increase on Pensioners, Working Poor, and Homeowners in part by declaring the era of tax breaks as we know it is over. Eliminating the Michigan Business Tax increases economic freedom in Michigan and is fair. Mr Snyder wants to go beyond fair. He not only wants to eliminate business taxes, but to confiscate money from Pensioners, Working Poor, and Homeowners and give the money away to Political Friends. It was no coincident that Mitch Album's next film was given free money.

I would hardly consider Mitch Album a political friend of Snyder's.

And we're throwing more taxpayer money at one particular industry... why?  I see that this passed nearly unanimously, but I seriously have to wonder what the Republicans were thinking here.  Did I miss something, or was this really just stupid?

I've seen the film credits in action. I met people from all walks of life, laid off, lost their businesses, home makers, college grads. Sure its not a full time job for most but its a paycheck in a tough economy. I was on 8 films last year and it helped pay my bills and let me take a vacation. Many people are leaving the state for work. Im for any industry that lets people stay here and work. This one can grow if given the time for more people to be trained and more infrastructure built. I dont see any other industries knocking on our door. We were the automotive state, but it will never be the way it was. There are to many car companies now and even our own companies are relying on imported parts.

Mitch Albom did not know his film would be approved for the tax credit. it is up to the Film Office to approve or dissaprove films based on a set of criteria set up by the state. If there was some kind of special treatment going on it was someone in the Film Office deciding on their own to pass it through.

I think their looking at the 24 movies that just went to Ohio because they couldnt get the credit here and the Oz movie coming here that plans on spending 125 million here. Oh yea the govenor of Ohio said "Thanks Snyder" in a news article.

If this is so effective, why don't we just let the government subsidize all businesses?  Then we'd have great jobs accross the board.  The truth is, the money has to come from somewhere.  If the state is giving it to the film industry, they are taking it from other industries.  And if it is creating jobs in the film industry, it is destroying jobs in other industries.  Foolish politicians.

Now maybe Mikey Moore can make some more crockumentaires that bite the hand the gave him the subsidy to make the film. Why do we complain about subsides to companies that provide the fuel we use and provide subsidies to companies that pay huge salaries to liberal actors and actresses  that seek to denigrate this country? I think the answer is that our politicians are cut from the same cloth.

How much profit did Ohio make from the movies-or was the Governor just overwhelmed in the presence of movie "stars"?  What movies were they?

So you take pride in knowing part of your salary was taken from taxpayers to subsidize the film industry. Care to tell us the names of the movies and how much the state coffers benefitted from them?
