This is a good start at ending excess in the Legislative branch of Michigan government.

This bill needs to include all (both past and present) legislators, judges, and others collecting humongous salaries, health care & other bennies. We (in the private sector) have had our benefits slashed since we retired, so there is no reason why it cannot apply to you also.

I have been wondering why this bill is just dragging along and not going anywhere. I just saw on channel 7 news that representative Tom McMillin is the one responsible for stalling it.

Mr. McMillin told the reporter that he is not stalling, but that they have bigger fish to fry. What kind of BS is that? You guys are the big fish and you need to be fried right now. You are a major part of the problem. You keep taking from those of us who have nothing so that you can ensure that you will have everything you want financially.

Mr. McMillin, you need to get off your butt and slide this one through. We aren't as stupid as you think we are. Where is this "shared sacrifice" that our new governor keeps talking about? You have not taken any cuts for anything.

Not only should your health benefits be cut, but your salary and retirement benefits should also be adjusted. I think that you guys need a hefty pay cut, and should have the same health benefits as those of us receiving Medicare. Your retirement benefits should also be similar to what we receive on Social Security. This would weed out the greedy politicians who are just holding office because of the generous benefit package.

Additionally, you should have to have at least 30 years in public office before you receive the above benefits, just like those of us in the private sector. If you die, your spouse and/or children should not continue to receive these benefits.

You guys keep talking about the taxpayers and our "entitlements". This is just more BS. Why do you feel that you deserve any kind of entitlements? You are the ones who messed up our economy and you want everyone but yourselves to financially pay to fix it.

I hope you don't think that if you ignore this long enough, it will go away. We will continue to suffer while you take all you want while we hear about it on television, the newspapers, and other media.

You need to address the REAL issues NOW!
