    2010 Senate Bill 1558 (Sell and lease-back former state school for the deaf property in Flint )

    Introduced in the Senate on November 3, 2010, to sell the former state school for the deaf property in Flint for $1.3 million to a particular developer (Lurvey White Ventures), which would build a new school for the deaf facility and lease back to the state for $2 million annually

    The vote was 36 in favor, 1 opposed and 1 not voting

     This bill is contrived by individuals that obviously are not thinking about the students of the school, but maybe to line thier pockets once they leave the legislature. Management has neglected to secure money to repair some these buidlings, (homeland Security) which would of saved $325,000, if it was used. Federal funding of 100% doesnt make a difference, minus repair and utility cost. Sometimes you keep things because of history, excellance in teaching, inter-school support for both the students  and alumni. A part of community that should always be preserved for public use.

    The best use should be given for this property, I only hope now that the particular developer will comply with what he said. I am also thinking about the online option for schooling, would that work too in this project? It would be an interesting mix.
