    2009 Senate Bill 950 (Authorize false veteran penalties )

    Introduced in the Senate on October 28, 2009, to authorize penalties of up to one year in jail, a $5,000 fine, and 100 hours of community service in a veterans home or for a veterans service organization for a person who falsely claims to be a military veteran so as to claim awards or benefits

    The vote was 36 in favor, 0 opposed and 2 not voting

     This is a no bainer i encourage everyone to make sure this Legislation passes. Too many people have been getting off with a slap on the wrist and this need's to stop immediately!

     But they can exagerrate and lie about thier military service when campaiging for public office-that's OK. Take John Kerry-Please!

    People who make false claims to receive awards or benefits engage in fraud -- a crime.  Unless I am mistaken, the penal code already covers this behavior.  We do not need a special law in this case.

    Senators who voted for this bill were pandering to veterans and veteran sychophants who want to jam down our throats that vets are "special" citizens whose service credentials warrant superior protection.
