I agree that we are so far into debt that it is ridiculous, and that we need to find other solutions for unemployment and Medicaid, but does that mean that you should act like you are either on drugs or that you are just a nut?

Tom, isn't it up to you and your buddies to come up with solutions so that we don't have to keep going further into debt? Can you or anyone else tell me what renaming the resolution for more payments to unemployment and Medicaid to "lay more horrendous debt on our children and grandchildren resolution" would have accomplished?

You guys are still being paid your salaries, so why don't you do something to earn it!!!!!!!!! No wonder we are in so much trouble with representatives acting like this. If this is the best you can do, I feel that paying your salary (and others like you) should be renamed to "laying more horrendous debt on our children and grandchildren salaries."

The solution to keeping our governments from sinking farther and farther into debt is to raise taxes. It is not necessarily to cut services even further.

Nobody likes this solution, of course.  "No more taxes" crybabies in the public are loud and persistent, making it very uncomfortable for our typically cowardly politicians to propose and advocate such a thing.  But the reality is, we aren't going to cut our way out of this dilemma.

This is not advocating profligate spending.  I am all for frugality, to the extent it really does serve our interests as a state or nation, and as individuals in a community.  My own experience across a long working and living lifetime has been that to get out of debt (and then avoid further debt) I always have had to watch my expenses (costs) and increase my revenues (income).  Never could reach my no-debt or minimal-debt goal just by cutting.  I daresay the same applies to government.  The only means by which government is able to increase its revenues is by collecting more taxes.
