My first thoughts are that I'm worried about the security of the list of permit holders names, and will this process end up costing more or taking longer once the state takes over?

It would be rather nice to have a more "official" looking CPL instead of the "fake" looking laminated version from the local sheriff's dept.

Will the Secretary of State be conducting a criminal background check?

I suggest we do away with cpl's and let the gun owners carry their weapons in the open. Any weapon, anywhere, anytime, from a 22 pistol to a nuclear warhead.

I'm curious to see if that would satisfy the NRA.

Gypsy, Open carry is already legal in Michigan, and I agree with doing away with CPL's for any carry. And yes, I should be able to carry my own nuclear warhead if I wanted to.
