Ken Glasser is another politician who likes high taxes and big government. He's never voted against a tax increase.
I do not know a soul, politician or otherwise, who "likes high taxes." And, frankly, I don't quite know what in blazes "big government is" -- in fact, I suspect that lies strictly in the eye of the beholder. For some people, it clearly appears that any government is "big government," an absurd position if ever there were one.
The truth is that there is a huge difference between "liking" something (such as higher taxes) and accepting the need for it. It is entirely possible to dislike taxes, but accept their necessity. Politicians who realistically, honestly and responsibly work for their constituents recognize and accept the necessity of taxation, and proceed accordingly. They are the true fiscal conservatives in the pack. Only fools who expect to get something for nothing call for government services to be provided without paying for them, and only fools seek the complete collapse of our governments.
