    Rep. Meekhof, having reserved the right to explain his protest against the passage of the bill, made the following statement:

    “Mr. Speaker and members of the House:

    Targeted tax credits such as these are unfair to other businesses and are not as effective at stimulating the economy as broad-based tax relief would be.”

     Why does the government continue to pick winners and losers?  Why not let the free markets decide?  Why must specific companies and/or industries continue to receive specific tax breaks.  Lansing uses the same pick and choose procedure for individual taxes breaks.  Lets stop this way of legislating.  We are all Michigan citizens.  Lets make this a business-friendly state instead of picking specific industries that Lansing decides it wants in Michigan.  What happened to the free market system?
