This bill is something that is way overdue. There has actually been a lot of discussion in Jackson about watching yourself whom you let watch your kids because the state was going crazy. I believe the intention of their being child care licensing is to monitor child care centers as you would a school- your children are there often for a long length of time. However, should you worry about whether or not your neighbor has a child care license for the 3 or 4 times a year you may ask her to watch your kids for 3-4 hours to go on a date? I am getting so sick of the government worrying about how we handle our households. I am sure that there are some licensed day cares out there that a mother wouldn't feel comfortable leaving her kids. However, it's ridiculous to expect someone to go through the process of geting a license, who is going to babysit your kids for a couple of nights a year. Or, what about your best friend who is offering to watch your kids for a couple hours a day at $2 an hour. It's your best friend. You've spent 25 years going up together. WHO DOES THE STATE think they are to give you persmission for your best friend to watch your kids. It's just absurd. Sure, I understand the need for licensing and protection in a formal business setting, but to be told what to do in your own houses is ridiculous.
