Why must we continually make laws to make unions stronger?  Every business they've ever controlled has gone down in flames.  How about a right to work law?

This is obviously just another poorly disguised step toward the same ends as "Card Check" to make it easier for Big Labor to steal more of Michigan's workers' paycheck.  This is precisely the kind of thing that will insure no recovery of the job market and most likely will discourage even more potential employers.  Don't these fools ever learn?

Not only NO, but HELL NO!! There seems to be a movement afoot among Democrats to strengthen unions-particularly in the area of strengthening political action by making it harder for the individual employee to opt out. Union members already face intimidation and retaliation when wishing to remove their dues from political action even though lawful to do so. In light of an apparently illegal unionization action by some factions of state government to force child care independent contractors into a bargaining unit-but there is no bargaining unit, just dues paid-one can only note the similarities to unionized 'worker's parties' in Marxist countries! Note to voters is Sen. Michael Prusi's district: its time you take this guy out of office-he does not have our Republic or The People of the State's best interests at heart!

The Mackinac Center is misleading in it's presentation of this bill. Permission would be needed to take PAC money from workers paychecks even with this bill. The only change is the union would not need to ask every year. The workers can opt out of their contribution at any time.

With the Supreme Court considering giving corporations the ability to contribute massive amounts of money to politicians, it is a small matter for unions to not be required to get permission every year from their members. This is a reasonable bill and should be passed.

Senate Bill 830 smells.  Annual permission requirement reminds the union members of where some their dues are going.

If a union member agrees to a pac deduction from his paycheck, he is reminded weekly, or however often he gets his paycheck. This is just a nuisiance requirement for unions to have to re-ask every year. If a worker wants to stop his contribution, he can at any time.
