This is ridiculous as usual, lets get some common sense here and get politics out of running our fish and game, the state would know long before 2016 if we have a disease issue in the states deer herd or not, only one more year of no baiting would confirm that.

When are these clowns going to admit they don't know diddly about hunting, deer management, or CWD?  Baiting and feeding doesn't necessarily spread CWD.  Deer are social animals, they are constantly nose to nose in the wild, and nose to tail.    They group up for safety in numbers.  This baiting and feeding ban is all about controlling hunters, not CWD.

Tell your legislature that you oppose the ban even if you don't use those methods.  We hunters are the ones who need to seek safety in numbers from these out of touch, out of control legislators.

This is not a bill to extend the ban on feeding deer. This is a bill to extend the DNR's authority to extend the ban. Again, the Mackinac Center is misleading in describing a bill.

The DNR has the science and the means to do the research needed to determine the risk of CWD spreading in our deer herd. They should have the authority to act on their conclusions, even though they may be unpopular with some, or even most sportsmen and women.

I will not vote for any legislator that supports this bill.  It is not based on science but on politics.  It will cause the starvation of a vast number of our northern deer herd.

If our northern deer herd depend on supplemental feeding to survive, they are obviously over populated.

How can CWD spread if it is not in our wild deer herd?  The ban of feeding would destroy our northern deer herd making the ban a nonissue.  Would you starve people so that they did not get the swine flu?  The approach to contain disease by banning feeding is illogical and without merit.  Scientists (experts) disagree as to the cause of CWD and to its means of spreading.  To rely on one view without giving the other views equal venue is not science but politics.  The nrc/dnr has proven themselves to act on a political basis not on a scientific one and therefore do not merit the authority to ban feeding.

This argument demonstrates a lack of knowledge concerning the northern deer herd.  Whether there is one deer per acre or a hundred, our winters will kill them all without supplemental feeding.  If one feels this is not true, place a plate of food on the ground and then try to find it after 3 to 4 ft of snow have covered it and then crusted over.  Starvation is a slow and painful death.  Please come to the north and live in a rural area for a couple of winters and watch the deer die before making such an uninformed statement.

This is a joke, as the entire state is becoming.   This is not based on sound science.  MI has not detected CWD in the wild herd and the handling of the deer farm CWD deer brings up numerous questions (like, where the heck are the samples NOW?).  This is all about money, power, and control of the hunting community.  It is not about deer.  Wake up people.

Actually, the fact that CWD has not been found in Michigan's wild deer herd can be taken as potent evidence the DNR-NRC policies implemented to prevent its spread are working quite effectively.

     Exactly.
