Why are you increasing the tax to those wanting to get married? Is there any counseling given or tax levied on those shacking up? And-just what are the qualifications needed to become a marriage counselor?

Revenue enhancement by increasing fees for parenting citizens - perhaps Rep. Mark Meadows (D) should focus on the economic growth of our State - given that the number one issue in relationships is MONEY - having jobs available might reduce the NEED for family counseling, or those that want it could pay for it themselves.  But wait, the economy is apparently too tough a problem . . .

Perhaps the increase in fees could pay for the counseling programs on "how to set priorities" for Representatives.

    Better idea:

Employ a conservative market-driven approach.  Repeal Michigan's constitutional ban on same-sex marriage; statutorily allow same sex marriage in the state.  This would increase demand for marriage licenses, rather than reduce it by boosting fees.  Dedicate additional marriage license fees collected through market expansion to "more family counseling."

    Much better idea.
