Gee does anyone think this bill has anything to do with Cox's run for governer?

Just another piece of unconstitutional garbage that the state will have to pay to defend in the courts. If these idiot lawmakers do not stop with adding all of the restrictions to the Sex offender registry, the Supreme Court will have to revisit their prior ruling that the Registry is regulatory and not punitive. The more punishment they add to the registry the more likely SCOTUS is to overturn their previous ruling. Probably 75% of those on the registry have no business being on there in the first place. Instead if adding all of this garbage to gain political clout why cant the legislators work on a fair and logical registry that actually protects the public from the real high risk individuals.

The Michigan legislature is being led around by the nose trying to comply with the Federal Adam Walsh Act when other states see the financial and illogical nonsense behind it and say no. Our legislature on the other hand rushes to pass this crap so they can say "See we are tough on crime" and after all who is going to vote against this garbage and face the uninformed public who may say "Oh you dont care about the children" Our lawmakers should be ashamed that they cant sit down and work out a fair constitutional set of sex offender laws that actually protect the public without violating the rights of those that shouldnt even be on the registry.

How is this going to be enforced?

What a waste of time-- (and money if it passes.)

I agree.  Please do tell me if I'm missing something but how will banning "sex offenders" be monitored and policed?  And if they're that dangerous that we know they're going to use a social networking site as a predator why are they on the street?

I guess if they can't use social networking sites they shouldn't be able to use a public park or washroom either or go to the mall.  And I guess they should be under constant house arrest and have to pay for their groceries to be delivered to them.  Ah hell, just throw them back in prison.

You're right though, that is a strange one and a waste of time. It's not something that can be well policed without wasting extra resources the police and parole officers don't have.

This year IRS guarantees they will accept our tax extension if filed.
