Can Rep. Bennet show which items in the inflation index affect the processing of storm drainage? Seems like another inflation index money grabbing scheme like the property tax. Why not just show the public what it costs to process the strom drainage, including wages benefits etc.  The fact that he wanted this to be automatic without any future approval by the legislature for increases has a real bad smell-like the  sewage Lansing dumps into the Grand River. In other words, what he wants is an increase whether it;'s needed or not. I would bet they would have no problem spending what they didn't need.

Rep. Agema, having reserved the right to explain his protest against the passage of the bill, made the following statement:

“Mr. Speaker and members of the House:

Here we go again, we are asked to vote on a bill we haven’t vetted. It is an extension of fees that should sunset, so in effect, it raises taxes. This is more fines, fees and permits. This is once again balancing the budget on the backs of its citizens.”

Storm water discharge permits are another one of those ways the termites in the Michigan Legislature can mine your pocket book through useless fees and regulations that do nothing but give them a larger pool of money to spend at the resident's expense.  Flee Michigan before it becomes another Massachusetts.  New college graduates do!

Pretty soon we will be having runaway inflation with Obama's stimulus package, confiscatory taxes and systematic cap and trade legislation to tax carbon emissions.  This tax will inflate the cost of heating homes  on average by about $1,700 a year from some studies.  America's politicians have gone mad and ignorant!  Inflation works in the economic system through printing of money to cover debt where there are no reserves to pay bills.  Legislators should be mindful of the fact that rather than add a tax, they should limit spending.

We need to change the legislature.  The government is ingrown and absorbed by its own power.  Citizens are no longer in control which is the hall mark of a free democratic country.
