Stop trying to use my tax dollars for 'social engineering'!! You people just dont 'get' it, so you? Tax dollars should NEVER be used to bribe people to move on or off the bus line. You folks need to just cut out the crap!

Sounds like a great idea to me. Making it financially more sensible, tax wise, to be near work is a smart way to safe energy.

The "government should be small enough to drown in the bathtub" crowd whine even when given the opportunity for a tax credit. They don't have to take it. I will.

This is ridiculous legislation.  It proposes a further subsidization of mass transit systems and "walkable communities" which are having a hard time getting a foothold here in the land of the individual wheel.  Only a small minority of Michigan working people ever would qualify for this payola.  The vast majority then will have to cover the cost.  At one point or another we have to say "no" to this kind of thing, and this bill is an excellent and obvious place to draw that line.  If walking or using mass transit systems to get to work are either good or practical ideas for large numbers of people, the ideas and resultant systems and infrastructure should fluorish on their own merit.
