In response to both of these bills, why don't we revise the term "lawmaker" to mean "a bunch of braindead people with nothing better to do that sit around and think up silly bills".

Pathetic.

I'd like a clear, coherent, non-hysterical explanation of why this bill is necessary.

There are some rifles and shotguns with folding stocks which otherwise must be technically defined as a pistol by MI statute. 30" is just a bit too long to accommodate many firearms that are commonly available in other states as "long guns."

It's a small technical change, but it makes some of the modern technology available to us in MI.

Understandable that it seems like trivia to those not "inside" the sport. :)

It has nothing to do with "sport" and everything to do with gun control.  Wake up people.  No more silly gun laws.  Enforce the ones already on the books.

Maybe I'm the one confused. This change relaxes the current gun control law, doesn't it? Or, am I not seeing something?

Not IMO.  Many people who already had CPL's realized that they could carry their TEK's folded as a pistol, but didn't have to register them as such.  This is aimed directly at those individuals.
